Slim chance, but only thing I can think of is maybe some module your boot process depends on is no longer built-in the kernel and needs to be added to initrd manually

You can mask arbitrary package versions or version ranges to reliably stay on an older kernel, driver version (for example on my desktop I currently mask >=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-590, meaning “give me the newest 580 version”)

There are other APIs to interact with things, but everything can be interacted with as if it was a file

So - yes money got “stolen” from actual OSS projects that keep world’s lights on, yes vibecoding has not been proven to scale or endure multiple decades like Debian, Gentoo, Fedora etc

And if I can’t boot I don’t do it

It’s been a while but for me personally, the number one thing that saves your ass in event of failure is installing both the up to date and the LTS kernel

imo the only useful place to use secure boot is on a laptop with password protected bios and encrypted disk, in case someone wants to steal it they can’t recover your data or if they want to put a virus in your pc they literally can’t

if you don’t want it, you can compile the kernel yourself, specifically for your hardware

but whatever terms there are, i use linux mint and whatever kernel/os/shell/ui/etc that implies is fine by me

I think LLMs can tentatively be used for some useful things, like checking for security bugs in new kernel code

They are both gaming focused, Arch rolling releases, have their own modified kernel, have their own repos, both set up proprietary Nvidia drivers by default
