Alternatively, it can also be considered wasteful (electricity/compute) when everyone compiles their whole system instead of doing it once in a central server

Understandable given the spirit of open source is literally the antithesis of what they believe in, however they also can’t ignore it now cause it’s vital infrastructure

Search for menuentry, that should be followed by the name of the entry and below details for what kernel and options it uses

Of these, 66% are still immediately batted away with the Anubis challenge, but 33% are now solving the math and getting through to the main site — because apparently what we have to offer is worth spending a ton of cycles to calculate the Anubis challenge

Slim chance, but only thing I can think of is maybe some module your boot process depends on is no longer built-in the kernel and needs to be added to initrd manually

We would often download the latest kernel overnight from a bbs or mirror site beforehand days before installing because you often needed the latest kernel to get your hardware working
https://lemmy.world/u/fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone
If those kernels were already rebuilt and signed by the arch team, or somehow there was a way to know the signed version of the baseline kernel and list which utilities were added on top when recompiling the kernel, there would be a way to know for sure that there’s no fucking kernel level cheats, which would kill

Using mainline or something to ensure I’m up to date on the latest kernel has never solved a single issue in my entire history of trying but using liquirox worked one time

Having said that, the inflated sense of importance of these companies thinking they deserve root is pretty astonishing:
Kernel-level anti-cheat operates at the innermost layer of the operating system, allowing it to inspect the entire PC

A file is really just a bunch of blocked stacked together with the inode metadata also sitting on another block, so is everything just blocks or because you can emulate a block device on a filesystem, are blocks themselves files
