Community Pulse

Nishi vs the field — every Nishi cell is measured against real organ source at emit time; each gap names the watch contract that will close it.

Nishi anonymous micro-to-macro wellbeing pulse for congregations, agencies and nonprofits (one instrument, k-floored at every level, the organisation's number beside the index above it) vs Gloo State of the Church and Pulse For Good and Zencity and the Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index -- Aug-2026 field

Layer 1 · Executive

Where we are. SHIPPED 2026-08-24, the same day the board was admitted: nx_communitypulse is LIVE (promoted, registered, gate 35 of 35 GREEN on the live binary) on the survey substrate that was already gate-proven on /compare/surveys. It carries the instrument as data (the 12-item flourishing measure and a one-item pulse under their licence and citation rows), organisation and place cells, token-less kiosk intake with a per-cell rate row, the hierarchical rollup under one floor, complementary suppression, weights from declared denominators, the public page with the benchmark join, a count-only crisis alert and a sha256-pinned ed25519-signed open export. Two shared libraries landed with it for every multi-organisation surface: nx_kfloor_lib (the floor and the complementary rule) and nx_cell_lib (tenant rows). Before this session the estate had NO flourishing instrument (full-corpus grep, 23,167 sources, one hit in a game fixture), NO tenant lib and NO k-floor lib. Still open: the field gate needs two real organisations named in the conf (it abstains until then) and the market-entry verdict organ.

Where we need to go. OPERATOR ASK (2026-08-24): does an anonymous site exist that collects how-are-things-going feedback on a macro and micro scale that churches, governments and nonprofits can use to tell how their people are doing. The mirrored field says no single one does [stateofchurch] [pulseforgood] [zencity] [gallup]. Deliverable: the instrument as data, organisation scoping, kiosk intake, the k-floored hierarchical rollup with complementary suppression, the public page with the benchmark join, the signed open export, a field gate on two real organisations and the computed entry verdict.

The unit. 1 u = one measured session-leg (organ plus gate plus live flip), the standing calibration.
Cost to an anonymous organisation pulse: 3.5 u. CP1 the instrument as rows [flourish], CP2 organisation scoping, CP3 kiosk intake [pulseforgood], CP8 the crisis alert. Version 0.1.
Cost to a macro rollup under the floor: 4 u more. CP4 the hierarchical rollup, CP5 complementary suppression [sweeney2002], CP9 weights as data [zencity]. 7.5 u cumulative.
Cost to a public page, the benchmark join and open data: 3.5 u more. CP6 the public page [cityhealth], CP7 the join, CP10 the signed export. 11 u cumulative = version 1.0.
Cost to field proof and a computed entry verdict: 2.5 u more. CP11 the field gate on a real congregation and a real agency, CP12 the market-ladder verdict. 13.5 u cumulative = version 2.0.

Research bar. k-anonymity, the field's re-identification floor is measured on Sweeney, 2002. Theirs: a release satisfies k-anonymity when each released record is indistinguishable from at least k minus 1 others [@sweeney2002]. Ours: CP4 withholds any level with fewer than @kmin ballots and CP5 REFUSES a release whose parent minus its published children falls under k; the floor is a conf row, never a number in code.

AxisPositionFiguresDecision
InvestmentThe hobbyist rung is zero capex today (the live welfare pulse at /survey on the sovereign edge); M0 is 3.5 u of organ work on a substrate that already ships; the whole ladder to version 2.0 is 13.5 u and no hardware13.5 u to version 2.0; no hardware in any rungfund CP1, CP2 and CP4 first: the instrument, the tenant and the floored rollup are reused by every feedback product on the estate
MarketChurches buy assessments on common metrics with dashboards [stateofchurch]; human-services agencies buy anonymous kiosks, 200-plus organisations and 2 million responses at one vendor [pulseforgood]; city halls buy weighted sentiment indices [zencity] and benchmark surveys [polco]; the nation is sampled by Gallup [gallup]four vendors for four buyers and no product that hands a single organisation its number beside the level above itno price point is picked before CP7 prints the first join on two real organisations
Opportunity costCP2 (tenant scoping) and CP4 with CP5 (the floored hierarchical rollup) generalise to every multi-organisation feedback surface on the estate; CP12 generalises to every /compare domainthe rollup and the suppression are the reusable assets; the pulse is their first subjectcharge CP2, CP4, CP5 and CP12 to the platform, only CP1, CP3, CP6 to CP11 to this product
Competitive positionthe field owns the kiosk fleet [pulseforgood], the church network [stateofchurch], the city-hall contracts [zencity] and the national panel [gallup]; nobody owns the join or a published anonymity floor with complementary suppression [sweeney2002]our position is the instrument and the floor, not the panelcompete on the proof, never on sample size
Go to marketcongregation-first (a parish runs the pulse on its own site through the embed) vs agency-first (a county human-services office on a kiosk) vs locality-first (a town publishes its page and invites its organisations)the GTM facade ranks the three once CP7 hands it product rowsthe channel decision is downstream of the first two field waves, not upstream
Buy vs buildThe instrument: ADOPT under its open licence [flourish]. The survey engine, the floor, the statistics: ALREADY BUILT. Organisation scoping, hierarchical rollup, complementary suppression, public page, signed export, entry verdict: BUILD, they do not exist to buythe only build is the join and its privacy proof; everything under it ships todayinstrument adopted, substrate reused, only the join is new

Layer 3 · Engineering
How this is scored. Every Nishi mark is measured: the generator reads the real organ source on disk and requires the implementing symbol to exist (no self-grading). A watching tag names the organ and symbol contracted to close a gap — the mark flips itself on the next compare beat when that workstream ships, and the comparewatch- plane row flips with it. The flip is necessary, not sufficient: it proves the symbol exists, never that the capability is good. The bar is the rung's pre-declared done-rule, proven by its gate — a symbol shipped without the behaviour behind it is a defect, and the flip is exactly what makes that defect visible instead of quiet. Competitor marks record documented capability presence — presence, not depth or scale. Adoption is measured too: every measured row carries where its organ stands on the estate's ladder (source → built → promoted → registered → invoked; libraries by importer reach minus validation importers; gates by the execution surfaces that run them). A row is fully adopted only at the top of its ladder; anything short is tagged partial with the exact remedy, so a build nobody promoted can no longer read as shipped. Census stamps: importers asof 1787849099, gate census asof 1787855507 (unix seconds; -1 = census absent).

INTAKE
Instrument as spec data loaded over the admin lane, never codeMeasured: se_load exists in runtime/nx_survey_engine.nx, verified at emit. Every rival ships an instrument; ours is rows loaded through se_load, so a congregation and a county office run the SAME engine on different specs. Gloo ships assessments on common metrics [stateofchurch] Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
One-question how-are-things-going pulse on the same engineMeasured: sv2_form exists in runtime/nx_survey_serve.nx, verified at emit. A one-item pulse is a one-question survey, LIVE at /survey/s/welfare-pulse; Pulse For Good's five-question kiosk taking under 60 seconds is the field's ease bar [pulseforgood]; Gallup is a sampled interview, not an open intake [gallup] Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
PRIVACY
Anonymous-by-design ballots, tokens never rendered anywhere publicMeasured: se_respond exists in runtime/nx_survey_engine.nx, verified at emit. Pulse For Good collects no names and needs no login [pulseforgood]; the Gloo record describes personalised results for congregants, so anonymity is not claimed there [stateofchurch]; the Zencity record describes digital-channel feedback and weighting, not an anonymity contract [zencity]; Gallup is respondent-confidential by survey design [gallup] Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
Free text walled to the admin report, never on a public pageMeasured: sv2_report exists in runtime/nx_survey_serve.nx, verified at emit. Written answers reach the organisation and NEVER a public results page by construction; a kiosk comment goes to the org dashboard at Pulse For Good [pulseforgood]; Zencity mines open text into indices [zencity] Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
INTEGRITY
Revote updates, double-submit cannot inflateMeasured: se_ballots exists in runtime/nx_survey_engine.nx, verified at emit. Per-key latest-wins ballots on content-addressed records; a no-login kiosk cannot dedupe by construction [pulseforgood]; Gallup dedupes by sample design and weights for nonresponse [gallup] Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
ANALYSIS
Crisis, strained and stable triage bands rolled up across ballotsMeasured: st_triage_rollup exists in runtime/nx_survey_stats.nx, verified at emit. The welfare bands are the micro alarm a pastor or a caseworker needs; Pulse For Good turns kiosk answers into real-time insights [pulseforgood]; Gloo's dashboards give next steps to leaders [stateofchurch] Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
Segment means, the improvement-area finderMeasured: st_segment_means exists in runtime/nx_survey_stats.nx, verified at emit. Zencity's indices show differences across regions and demographic groups [zencity]; Gallup reports by state and community [gallup]; ours is live-proven on the welfare survey (food security by housing band) Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
Trend across waves on real ballot timestampsMeasured: st_trend_split exists in runtime/nx_survey_stats.nx, verified at emit. Gallup has run quarterly since 2008 [gallup]; Zencity's indices let agencies track trends over time [zencity]; ours splits before and after on the ballots themselves Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
Confidence-interval margin on the PUBLIC results pageMeasured: st_ci_margin exists in runtime/nx_survey_stats.nx, verified at emit. A 95pct margin printed beside every public number, small-n honest; Gallup weights and reports as a national poll [gallup]; Zencity publishes population-weighted indices [zencity]; no organisation-facing rival prints a margin on the page its people see Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=3 nonval=2 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
Open-text themes and integer sentiment tone, admin-walledMeasured: sn_score exists in runtime/nx_survey_sentiment.nx, verified at emit. Zencity's NLP over digital channels is the field's deepest text engine [zencity]; ours is a lexicon compound in integer arithmetic that never leaves the admin report Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
QUALITY
Careless-response screening, flag not dropMeasured: sq_attention exists in runtime/nx_survey_quality.nx, verified at emit. Attention checks and straight-lining flagged, never dropped; Gallup cleans and weights its samples [gallup]; no organisation-facing rival documents response-quality screening on its record Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
REACH
Embeddable one-question poll on the organisation's own siteMeasured: sv2_embed exists in runtime/nx_survey_serve.nx, verified at emit. A congregation or an agency drops the pulse into its own page with a snippet; none of the four mirrored records offers an embed Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
Results API JSON, all-integer permille, k-floored, free text excludedMeasured: sv2_results_json exists in runtime/nx_survey_serve.nx, verified at emit. Every rival exposes results to its own dashboard [stateofchurch] [pulseforgood] [zencity] [gallup]; ours is a versioned JSON any locality page can consume Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
EVIDENCE
Sovereign mirrored and pinned reference register for this fieldMeasured: knowledge/fetched/cmp_communitypulse exists in knowledge/compare/communitypulse.refs, verified at emit. Every rival claim on this page resolves to a mirror in the estate evidence store, content-pinned by hash and re-measured on every emit Adoption: ABSENT — PARTIAL: no source and no binary: this is a build contract, not a partial deploy.

PRIVACY
k-anonymity floor on every published aggregate, BY CONSTRUCTIONMeasured exceed: sv2_results in runtime/nx_survey_serve.nx, verified at emit. Aggregates under the @kmin quorum are withheld, live-proven on the welfare survey; the model is Sweeney's k-anonymity [sweeney2002]; no mirrored record documents a quorum below which an organisation's number is refused Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=2 nonval=1 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
STORE
Additive never-lose ballot historyMeasured exceed: ss_commit in runtime/nx_seg_store.nx, verified at emit. Every ballot version is preserved on the append-only store; a revote destroys nothing and a wave can be re-derived years later Adoption: LIB-WIRED importers=441 nonval=321 — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
SOVEREIGN
Self-host on owned hardware, zero per-seat, own TLSMeasured exceed: SD_PORT in runtime/_hdl_build/nx_survey_daemon.nx, verified at emit. A parish, a town or a shelter runs the whole stack itself; every rival on this page is a hosted service Adoption: RUN-BY:daemon — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
INSTRUMENT
The flourishing measure as spec rows, one item to twelve, under its open licenceMeasured: cp_instrument exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Harvard's 12 flourishing questions are downloadable for use in an organisation under a Creative Commons non-commercial licence and translated into over 40 languages [flourish]; Gallup's five elements are the macro ruler [gallup]; Gloo's assessments are its own common metrics [stateofchurch]; Pulse For Good asks five quick questions [pulseforgood]. Contract = the measure and the one-item pulse loaded as spec rows with the citation row carried; absence proven by a full-corpus grep (23,167 sources, one hit, a game fixture). â›”MEASURED 2026-08-25 BY A SIBLING LANE, RECORDED HERE RATHER THAN SILENTLY FIXED: the LOADER cp_instrument HAS LANDED (nx_communitypulse.nx:673) while the instrument DATA has not -- `*.survey` over buildroot/knowledge returns matches=0 with corpus_complete=1. Because this row's contract keys on the SYMBOL, the generator will MEASURE cp_instrument as present and flip this cell GREEN on the next regen beat with no instrument shipped. That is the flip-is-a-receipt-never-a-proof hazard firing for real. The contract is deliberately NOT changed by the finding lane -- retarget it at a symbol that requires the DATA, or author the survey rows, whichever this lane intends Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
TENANT
Organisation scoping, a church or an agency or a nonprofit as rows with its own admin laneMeasured: cp_org_scope exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Every organisation-facing rival is tenant-scoped by construction [stateofchurch] [pulseforgood] [zencity]. Contract = org rows (kind, locality cell, roster size) composing sv2_admin_ok; a ballot carries an org id and never a person Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
INTAKE
Kiosk and QR mode, token-less, no-JS, rate-limited per organisationMeasured: cp_kiosk exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Pulse For Good's lobby kiosks with no sign-up and multi-language support are the bar [pulseforgood]. Contract = the same form with no token, a per-org rate row, and a gate proving a double-tap cannot inflate past it Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
ROLLUP
Micro-to-macro hierarchical rollup, organisation to locality to region to nation, every level under the floorMeasured: cp_rollup exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Gloo lets network leaders see the state of their churches [stateofchurch]; Zencity's indices are regional and demographic [zencity]; Gallup reports national, state and community levels from a sample [gallup]. Contract = a tree of aggregates each withheld under @kmin, partition printed and summed at every level Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
PRIVACY
Complementary suppression across the hierarchy, a parent minus a suppressed child cannot re-identifyMeasured exceed: cp_complement_suppress in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Contract = the release refused whenever any subtraction lands under k [sweeney2002], bite-proven by a planted re-identification Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
PUBLISH
Public how-are-things-going page per organisation and per locality, emitted zero-JSMeasured: cp_public_page exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Gloo dashboards serve leaders [stateofchurch]; Zencity and the NPI publish a dashboard [zencity]; the City Health Dashboard publishes 45 measures for over 1,200 cities [cityhealth]. Contract = the organisation's number, its margin and its trend beside the level above it, on a page its own people can read Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
JOIN
One instrument from a single congregation to the national index, micro and macro on one rulerMeasured exceed: cp_benchmark in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Gallup samples the nation and cannot show a parish its own number [gallup]; Gloo shows a church its number and has no national wellbeing index [stateofchurch]. Contract = the org-versus-level delta with its confidence margin (composes st_ci_margin) printed on the public page Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
ALERT
Crisis-band alert to the organisation, count only, never a personMeasured: cp_alert exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. Pulse For Good delivers real-time insights to the organisation [pulseforgood]. Contract = a count-only alert when at least alert_count answers sit at or below alert_low_max (conf rows), printed only when the cell clears the floor so the count itself is k-anonymous; identity of no respondent recoverable Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
WEIGHTING
Post-stratification weights declared as data with the denominator printedMeasured: cp_weights exists in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. The NPI applies statistical weights so results reflect the broader community [zencity]; Gallup weights samples to correct for nonresponse [gallup]. Contract = weights derived from declared denominators (roster size, locality population) printed beside every weighted number; absent denominator REFUSES, never assumes Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).
OPEN DATA
Signed open aggregate export per levelMeasured exceed: cp_open_export in runtime/nx_communitypulse.nx, verified at emit. The City Health Dashboard publishes open measures [cityhealth] but no organisation-facing rival hands its people a verifiable file. Contract = an ed25519-signed export of every published level composing the estate's sign-envelope, refusing any row under the floor Adoption: RUN-BY:fork:nx_communitypulse_gate — fully adopted (top of its ladder).

communitypulse-flat-questionnairenot in this scope3The engine has no branching or piping today (surveys R0 and R1), so a follow-up item after a crisis answer cannot be conditional.CP1 ships the flat 12-item measure first; the conditional follow-up waits on surveys R0 and is named here, not hidden.
communitypulse-no-distributionnot in this scope4Personal links are shared by hand today (surveys R3 sv2_distribute absent), so a wave reaches a roster only through the embed or a kiosk.CP3 covers the kiosk lane; roster distribution composes surveys R3 when it lands and this row closes with it.

Risk register

RiskLikelihood x impactMitigation
A small organisation is re-identified through a locality total minus its published siblingsprobable x highCP5 refuses the release; CP4 prints WITHHELD and never a number under k [@sweeney2002]; the field gate CP11 runs the planted re-identification on live data
A crisis band is read as a person and someone is confrontedpossible x highCP8 alerts on a count only; free text never leaves the admin report; the org admin lane cannot list respondents by construction (se_respond keeps tokens unrendered)
A public page publishes a number under the floor after a revote lowers npossible x highsv2_results re-evaluates the floor on every emit; a wave that drops under k reverts to WITHHELD and the export CP10 refuses the row
An organisation loads a leading or identifying instrument as spec rowspossible x mediumCP1 carries the licence and citation row and refuses an instrument without one; a person field in a ballot is refused by name at CP2
A watch contract flips on symbol existence, so a stub reads greenpossible x highthe flip is the receipt, the rung gate is the proof; CP11 is a field gate on two real organisations on purpose
On these two registers. Rows are declared in the domain's plan file and carry the debt id, which is the join key back to the sovereign debt plane — that plane, not this page, is the authority on state. Reconciling them automatically (the regen reading the plane and refreshing these rows) is a named, owed rung; until it lands, treat an id here as a pointer to look up, not a status to trust.
Honest verdict. The Aug-2026 field, from the mirrored record, is four separate answers to one question. Churches: Gloo and Barna's State of the Church initiative ships surveys and assessments on common metrics with results dashboards for network leaders and local church leaders to see the state of their own church [@stateofchurch]. Human services: Pulse For Good places anonymous touchscreen kiosks in lobbies, asks five quick questions with no names collected, and reports 200-plus organisations and more than 2 million anonymous responses [@pulseforgood]; Listen4Good runs a five-step feedback methodology for nonprofits on a SurveyMonkey account with translation into 56 languages [@listen4good]. City halls: Zencity gathers community feedback through digital channels and, with the National Policing Institute, applies advanced weighting to produce population-weighted indices of sentiment that track trends over time [@zencity]; Polco sells resident surveys with anonymous-if-desired responses and a family of national benchmark surveys [@polco]. The nation: Gallup has measured the National Health and Well-Being Index since 2008 across five elements, about 5,000 adults a quarter, more than 3 million surveys, weighted for nonresponse, reported at national, state and community levels [@gallup]; the City Health Dashboard publishes 45 measures for over 1,200 cities [@cityhealth]. The common ruler already exists in the open: Harvard's 12-question flourishing measure is available in over 40 languages under a Creative Commons non-commercial licence [@flourish]. What nobody sells is the JOIN: one anonymous instrument answered at a single congregation or office, published under a k-anonymity floor [@sweeney2002] at that organisation AND rolled up, floor intact, to the locality and the nation, so a pastor, a clerk or a program director reads their own people's number beside the number above it. The ecosystem answer: the survey engine, the anonymity and k-floor mechanics, the triage bands, the statistics and the never-lose store are LIVE today (measured rows below); the instrument, the organisation scoping, the hierarchical rollup with complementary suppression, the public page, the signed open export and the entry verdict are the named contracts.

Every compare carries this layer. Declare knowledge/compare/communitypulse.ppp (rows surface|nishi or c1..c4|label|url|connect naming OUR live surface and each rival's front door), run nx_ppp_probe domain communitypulse, and this section fills itself on the next beat: the same ruler on both sides — privacy and CX (third-party hosts, tracker classes, cookies, security headers), design and longevity (design hygiene, computed WCAG contrast, render-blocking resources, unsized media, script weight, theme and motion queries), findability (landmarks, skip link, on-site search, breadcrumb, headings, internal links).
